My latest obsession is reading blogs….lots & lots of blogs! Although, I use Google reader to receive all of my favorite bloggers’ latest posts, I find myself needing to personally visit each blog in order to get the warm fuzzy feeling that you only get by seeing the pretty blog headers and blinkie blog buttons in person. (Strangely enough, I have the same warm fuzzy feeling about shoes, handbags, and pedicures.) Anyway, the way I see it, the blog owner spent countless hours figuring out where to put their super-cool widgets and what color to make the title of their posts, so it’s only polite to take the time to look at it.…It’s not a poor use of my time. Right?
I must confess, that I have the tendency to let shiny things capture my attention much too easily. I love to set my hand to exciting new projects. I love to learn new things. Most of all, I love to laugh and have a good time. On the other hand, I loathe the mundane. I like to cook, but I don’t like that I have to do it EVERY day. I truly detest doing the laundry, and there are days that I (wait for it…..) don’t feel like homeschooling. I wish that I was a homemaker extraordinaire, but sadly I’m not.
As I sit here pondering my dilemma, I notice that Princess Leia (my adorable little Shih Tzu) is curled up on top of my son’s dirty underwear because I failed to get the dirty clothes into the washing machine yet again today, BUT before I give up all hope, I also notice my son’s Math test hanging proudly over his desk. He got an “A” today. He’s been getting a lot of those lately. Since we started homeschooling this year, one of his worst subjects has become one of his best. Isn’t that amazing? I guess at the end of the day, a messy house isn’t so terrible after all.

Great post! Love the retro illustrations, too. We also have a pup who likes to hang out with laundry…he doesn't seem to care if the clothes are clean or dirty…he likes both! He is a Shih Tzu / Maltese mix little mutt of a pup named Elliot. I have grabbed your button and have it on my scrolling blogroll, too. Hope that you will want to grab my button for your blog. I recently figured out how to make it.Have a nice day today.
I'm with you… I like to read lots of blogs!Handbags and pedicures give me warm fuzzies.Laundry is my least favourite household chore… I wish we could just buy more clothes.
I'm glad I stumbled here!
I hear you!!The other day a friend said, "I don't know how you have time to blog. For me, something had to give!" I laughed and replied, "Yeah, me, too! I chose to give up mopping instead!!"
I had such a hard time adjusting to homemaking and home schooling all at the same time. My clean house went out the window it seemed. At the same time in small quiet moments with my kids I knew my time was not being wasted, but I was investing it the absolute best place on earth, my children.
My cats are obsessed with laying on the laundry! Doesn't matter if it's clean or dirty, they'll find it. I'm looking forward to having kids just so I can homeschool them. lol
I love it! You sound so much like me, we could be twins.
I love homeschooling, love my blog, my family, my husband, my church and my God… and yet I can get sidetracked by "Oooo shiny!!" and end up in Twitterland…. or blogland…. for far too long. (Except now because I decided to visit my commenters, on purpose rather than on accident, LOL). Glad you popped over to say hello to me today!
I like to actually visit the blogs too. Cute header you have here! My cat loves laundry day:http://karen.pnn.com/articles/show/55785-i-love-laundry-day-by-spunky-doodleStopping by from SITS.
I'm lost in blogland too! And this homeschooling mama's house has never looked worse.
Lovely blog! (Stopping over from SITS.)
Thank you so much for your honesty. I am so happy to hear someone be real about their struggles. It helps me to know that I'm not the only one limping in a world full of sprinters! I deparately needed to hear these things you are typing about and will return often.
Thank you so much!!! I don't feel alone anymore. I am juggling three boys, whom are on the spectrum of Autism and here I thought that our unique family was having a hard time over quirks. I really feel a lot better after reading your posts. Homemaking isn't easy after all. Thanks again!
I *LOVE* this post! =)
I LOVE your blog! I came across it on Pinterest.. Keep up the good work and keep the great posts coming!
Thank you so much!
I love those illustrations! So true.
We have yet to begin our homeschool journey, but, like everything else–I'm sure there will be good days and some not-so-good days! And some days that will only be cured with chocolate! Ha ha!
