So many of you have asked me if I’m going to continue The Homeschool Mother’s Journal through the summer months and the answer is YES!!!
I know several moms that join me for the Journal each week are year-around homeschoolers and want to continue doing the regular posts each week.
BUT, I know that some of you are taking a summer break from homeschooling, and still want to stay connected to the wonderful group of moms that meet here each week.
So, I’d like to add a summer edition to our journal so everyone can still join in the fun.
Feel free to grab whichever graphic HERE that fits the post that you’re doing each week and pick out whatever writing prompts fit you best.
Regular journal or summer edition journal…all are welcome to “Join me on the journey”.
In my life this week….
It has been such a fun week for me. We are done with homeschool and are taking 2 months off to enjoy the summer. My little boy is not so little any more and will be starting Jr. High in the fall.
I can hardly believe that I am no longer an elementary school teacher.
Wow. I guess that I’m moving up in the world too!
My favorite thing this week was…
My first day of summer break started off with a fun breakfast with a dear friend. What could be better than blueberry pancakes and girl chat?!?
Places I’m going…
We are getting ready for our BIG trip to Chicago later this month and it’s all my son can talk about.
I hope, I hope, I hope, that it’s as wonderful of a trip as he has imagined in his mind.
*fingers crossed*
Things I’m working on…
I’m kind of lucking out with our decision to join the Classical Conversations program next year. I don’t have to hunt down curriculum or worry about much in that department.
Instead, my big planning issues are all focused on getting our homeschool classroom and closet organized this summer.
(No small feat, I tell ya!)
Books I’m reading…
Okay, I’m not really reading any books YET. Does anyone have any good suggestions for me? I am soooooo ready for some good summer read’n!
A quote, a video, a link or pic to share…
Here is yet another funny quote that makes me giggle every time I see it….Enjoy!

Happy Summer,

Now it’s your turn to share…
Please read my guidelines HERE before you link up.

Well, it's not summer here in Oz, so I can only dream of lazy days reading novels! Having said that, it's not all bad here – we are loving homeschooling and the days aren't real cold. Enjoy your summers – we will post lots of lovely holiday snaps for you in winter LOL!
LOL – Can't wait to see your chilly winter snaps!
Love your quote!
You asked about books to read. I'm doing a 52 Books in 52 Weeks challenge, so if you visit my site there are over 20 books that I've read so far that have reviews. Also, there's a link to the site that is hosting the challenge. There are links each week to people who are doing the challenge – all with names of books and reviews. It's a good resource if you're needing some good books to read. Here's the link to my site:

A couple suggestions: That you make sure to include the Field Museum of Natural History in your Chicago trip! It's my absolute favorite place in Chicago.
and for a good book: 'Mere Humanity' by Donald T. Williams. He references the works of G.K. Chesterton, J.R.R. Tolkien, and C.S. Lewis. it's an amazing book.
Have a great trip!
Oooo…. what a great book suggestion! I'll have to take a look at that one for sure.
I hope that we have time for Field Museum on our trip. We're hitting the Museum of Science & Industry 1st and hope to make it to Field if we don't run out of steam!
LOL! I quiet my inner skinny woman with ice cream!
What kind of book are you looking to read?
Sheri
Amen to the ice cream, Sheri! I think that I'm looking for some fun fiction to read this summer. Any good suggestions for me?

I love, love, love your summer version! I already had my article put together for regular year addition… can't wait to tackle the new questions
Thank you for hosting a great Meme!
God Bless
p.s. I LOVE your quote!
I recently read Water For Elephants. It is GREAT!!! If you haven't read it yet, you should…also, thanks for the summer edition!!!
I'll be joining in in a couple of weeks! My new homeschool blog will officially "open" next week!
Can't wait!
I'm going to second the recommendation of Water For Elephants. I just finished it, it's great!
I love this idea of wrapping up our week. I have joined this week, but am having a terrible time getting your graphic up. Any suggestions?
I'm sorry that you're having trouble with the graphic. Are you pasting the grab code into the html section of your post?
That's the thing. I can't highlight it to copy it. I was just wondering if others had had the same problem. Thank you so much for your help.
Love your new summer edition!
My all time favorite book – ever – to recommend is the Mark of the Lion Series by Francine Rivers. It's a 3 book series, starting with Voice of the Wind. It will change you.
A few others I just recently read – Water for Elephants & The Help. both are excellent
Love the Quote!!! our summer here in the south is hot already. For books to read I have none I still need to get my boys book LOLOL
how lovely summerbreak! over here we're going with local school schedule. only a 2 week break. And we used it on a road trip through thailand. Have fun over your break!
