The Homeschool Mother’s Journal – Procrastinator no more!

The Homeschool Mother
In my life this week…

It’s been a productive week for me…finally!

I must admit that I’ve been procrastinating my way through my summer, ignoring my “to do” list as it grew longer and longer each day.

You don’t think that my new found energy to get things done around my house had anything to do with the fact that my computer has been out of comission for the last few weeks do you?

Naww!  That couldn’t be it.

In our homeschool this week…

I ordered all of our curriculum for next year and I am so excited to get it all in the mail!

I don’t know about you, but I always look forward to that big brown box that gets delivered to my house each summer full of goodies for our upcoming school year.

My favorite thing this week was…

My beloved PC finally came home from the computer hospital, a bit worn for wear, but fixed and working. PTL!

I guess that the “ghost” that kept turning off my computer was really just a faulty power switch.

*phew*

Questions/thoughts I have…

I found out a few days ago that I get to interview veteran homeschool mom & author, Sally Clarkson,  for a special post that I’m working on for my other website.

My question to all of you, is what would you ask her if you could ask her just one question?

Things I’m working on…

I have been a cleaning machine this week cleaning out my office/homeschool room!

I found receipts from things that we purchased over 15 years ago, and I even stumbled across my old resume.  It’s a sad, pathetic old resume that boasts about how great my office job was at the time. (Ha!)

Gosh, maybe I should re-do it and add in all of my experience over the last several years as a homeschool mom.  I’m sure that would prove that I had more than enough experience to run a small fortune 500 company if I ever needed to go out and find a paying job.

Don’t you think?

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

Happy Summer,

  1. I am quite the procrastinator as well…and I love getting new school stuff in the mail! It's like Christmas!! :D

I so love your post! Yeah for your computer and for your curriculum and YEAH for interviewing Sally Clarkson!! How wonderful will that be! Be blessed, sweet chicky friend…..and stay out of that crazy AZ weather you're having!

Yay for a week of accomplishments!!! This week flew by for me and I'm not sure what, if anything, I actually got done in the grand scheme of things, lol! Glad your computer is back, safe and sound! Thanks for the great writing prompt and link-up every week! Love it!

Sue, this is a more personal question for Ms. Clarkson, but I think I'll ask anyway. I need to find balance for myself – i.e. recharging my batteries. I don't have family nearby and I am the only at-home, homeschooling mom in my little neighborhood. If my husband doesn't have the flexibility to give me one morning a week, how can I find the balance to stay sane, spiritually-connected and happy? Evenings are not the best choice as I am usually exhausted by that time. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

I wanted to share 2 things. First, my oldest is 20 and I was helping with his resume, and I thought how proud I once was of my work accomplishments, that was listed on my own. My how God turned my life around. Second, I am so excited I plan to go listen to Sally Clarkson at a homeschool conference in a couple of weeks. I am very excited about that.

Congrats on your busy week of cleaning. I love purging things out of the house. It's amazing how things accumulate. Paperwork is my nemesis, so I commend you on going through your office. I know I have a stack of papers calling my name that I, too, have been procrastinating :)

  7. Laurie says:

Loved her book, Seasons of a Mother's Heart, that we did for our Mother's Heart group. I'm curious if she'd do anything different in her teaching, if she had it to do again?

    Blessings,

    Laurie

  8. Martha says:

Sometimes it is hard not to procrastinate in the summer.

Enjoy your new goodies when they arrive.

I am such a procrastinator!! I love your quote, I am going to have to remember that one. ;-) We've been vacationing so I've got a lot of catching up to do with blogs AND with housework! Guess I'd better not put it off much longer…
