My Year of “New”

by Sue on January 5, 2012

In my life this week…

2012 is off to a great start!  (Well, kind of.)

The Christmas decorations have come down and I finally feel like I have my house back to normal.

Of course, after returning home from up north, I have failed, yet again, to unpack my suitcase in a timely manner.

My husband, however, always unpacks within minutes of stepping foot back in the house, but me…not so much!

I usually throw all of my junk on the floor within feet of the front door and heave myself onto the nearest piece of comfy furniture so I can recover from the exhaustion of it all.

Yeah, I’m kinda delicate like that.

Nonetheless, after I nearly ripped off my pretty red toenail on the aforementioned unpacked suitcase in the middle of the night last night and cursing like a sailor, I unpacked it and put it away today.

Happy New Year to me!

In our homeschool this week…

We are still off on our holiday break, but have a little reading to catch up on.

It’s been a balmy 75 degrees here in AZ, so we’ve been hanging out reading on the hammock with our sunglasses on.

The weather is great, but I must admit, I kind of miss wearing the warm clothes I was in up north last week.

Crazy, huh?

Questions/thoughts I have…

I could probably write an entire stand-alone post about this topic, but for now, I’ll limit myself to just this little snippet.

There’s been lots of talk lately about selecting a single, personal word to define what you’re expecting or focusing on in 2012.

Before all of the blog posts and facebook statuses started popping up everywhere, I started to think about 2012 and wondered how I could define my anticipation of it with only one word.

There are a lot of things going on in my life lately that I haven’t blogged about.  Things that have actually kept me from blogging…but all of that is going to change very soon.

I don’t mean to be cryptic about anything, but I have several things about to change in my life.  Personally and blog-related.

I hope to post about those things as they happen over the coming months and share them with all of you in greater detail, but for now, I’ll simply state for the record that 2012 is officially going to be my year of “New”.

What about you?

Do you have a single word that defines what you’re expecting or focusing on in 2012?

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

Here’s a little something pretty and new that I just had to share.

Beautiful flower! Our weather has been warm too. It doesn’t feel right at all.
I’m not sure about just one word for this year. I hadn’t thought about it. Yet, I like yours – new, can be good…can be difficult…still new is different and that is good.

I just noticed the “5 Things Every Homeschool Mother Should Carry In Her Purse”.
Has it always been there?
Because I needed to read it … TODAY!

Praise God!

Going into my third week of yuckiness here … guess my one word should have been health!
Since so way behind in all things bloggy, i linked up my ‘One Word’ post since that seemed to be the overall vibe!
Happy New Year to you Sue, cannot wait to see what you have up your sleeve for taking the world and the blogosphere by a storm … and see you in what – about 48 sleeps ;)

I am soooooo excited to hug yer neck in person, my dear! Glad that you’re finally feeling better too. :)

I have chosen “clarity” for my word of the year. I blogged about it (http://jennifer-controlledchaos.blogspot.com/2012/01/year-of-clarity.html)on Monday of this week. I think it helps define your outlook for the year. I like it better than a resolution because a word seems a little easier to hold on to.

Love your word for 2012, Jennifer! Clarity. So important for all of us.

No fair! You stole my one word! And I was gonna blog about it today. Darn it. That’s a beautiful picture! It’s been so nice and warm here, too, and I’m definitely further north than you (Kansas). But we got up to 70* yesterday. I could definitely handle the rest of winter being like this.

Great minds think alike, Kristi! I hope you enjoy your year of “New” too. :)

Loved reading your entry – no I haven’t chosen a word because quite honestly I know I’ll never keep to it. I’ve linked up :D

In a group earlier this week we were asked the question about “one word” and I was going to say successful but someone already said it. I still could have used it but I wanted to be original! :) I came up with the word vibrant and I like that!

My single word would be GROWTH. I am expecting to grow healthy and be spiritually fit:) Beautiful flower! I’m looking forward to reading about your changes. Have a wonderful weekend!

16 Sue January 10, 2012 at 8:01 pm

Thanks so much! Growth is a great word for this year too. ;)

Oh boy, I can really relate to the “dropping everything within five feet of the door and flopping onto the nearest piece of comfy furniture” bit …. except I do that when we get back from running errands too. :-P

18 Sue January 10, 2012 at 8:03 pm

Cindy – I think that you and I are waaaaaay more alike than we ever knew! You know what they say… great minds thinking alike and all. ;)

19 Robin Duncan January 6, 2012 at 10:20 pm

My word is CONFORM, as in to the image of Christ. Earlier this week, I blogged about why I chose this word. (http://livingmyportion.wordpress.com/2012/01/01/encounter-and-conform/). This is the first time I’ve ever chosen a word for the year. I hope to share what the Lord teaches me periodically through the year. Looking forward to hearing what God is doing in your life in 2012.

20 Sue January 10, 2012 at 8:04 pm

That’s a beautiful word choice for 2012, Robin. I can’t wait to read about all that the Lord is doing in your life throughout this new year. ;)

21 Taunya Richards January 7, 2012 at 9:50 pm

This is my year of “joy”. I like your word. :)

22 Homeschool on the Croft January 9, 2012 at 11:45 am

75 ??!! SEVENTY-FIVE??? Oh, to have these temps in the height of our summer!!

And I’m desperate to read more…. go on, tell all :)

And that word would probably apply to stuff that’s likely to happen in our coming year too… I haven’t blogged about it yet either, so have to keep mum :)
Happy New Year!
A x

23 Sue January 10, 2012 at 8:06 pm

Can’t wait to hear all about all of your “NEW” too! :)

24 Wendy January 12, 2012 at 11:08 pm

Hi Sue!

I always enjoy your blog! I’ve been thinking about a word for myself for 2012, and I haven’t really come up with one yet. I’ll have to consider it for a while. :) This is definitely a year of “new” for me too!
