In my life this week…
I am in Nashville, TN at the Blissdom blogging conference this weekend and can hardly contain myself!
I love this city and couldn’t ask for a better location for a fun gathering of 750 of my closest bloggy friends.
I am meeting up with all of the homeschool bloggers at the event this Friday for breakfast and promise to post some pics later next week.
If you’re on twitter, follow the #hsbliss hashtag and you might get a sneak peek.![]()
Too fun!
In our homeschool this week…
I have been in organizational overdrive this week, preparing my son to carry on with his homeschool work without me.
I’m trying not to be a helicopter mother (you know… hovering) over every little thing that he needs to accomplish, but it’s hard letting go as he gets older.
*Sigh*
Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…
I think that one key to keeping my sanity as a busy homeschool mother is to make sure that I have a few subjects that aren’t so “teacher-driven” so my son can work independently without me throughout the day.
One of my absolute favorite “student-driven” pieces of curriculum is Teaching Textbooks Math. It is so visual and so helpful in the way that it works out each and every problem step-by-step, that I simply couldn’t image my homeschool without it!
Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
My lovely, amazing mother-in-law, who will be hanging with my son while I’m out of town, actually asked me to leave the dirty laundry for her to do.
Can you believe it?
She is a laundry haters dream come true!
(and NO, you can’t borrow her)

My favorite thing this week was…
A sweet friend of mine sent me a book from Amazon.com directly to the Kindle app on my iPad as a gift.
I didn’t even know that you could do that! Did you???
I guess you need to know the email that the person uses with their Kindle/Amazon account before you place your order so the little Amazon worker bees that live inside your computer can zap it over to your friend’s email to be downloaded right into their Kindle or Kindle iPad app.
Snazzy, huh?
I’m reading…
The fantastic book that my friend “Kindled” over to me is called, God’s Guest List: Welcoming Those Who Influence Our Lives by Debbie Macomber.
Have you read it?
I’m only on chapter 5, but I’m finding that its message is really helping me to appreciate all of the different people, good or bad, that God has allowed to cross my path.
Specifically, it’s helping me to see them as a blessing.
A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
So, I had to show off the snazzy business cards that I’ll be passing out at the conference this weekend.
ONLY at a blogging conference could someone get away with girly, froofy “business” cards like these…

Whatcha think...too much???
You can even check out the snazzy bag that I’m sporting at the conference, filled with my little green cards over on my InstaGram feed too!
Happy Homeschooling,

I feel the same as you about TT. It lets me practice letting go and letting my son work without me.
I can't wait to hear how your conference goes!!! ENjoy!!!
enjoy the conference
Ive heard a lot about it
Im working on the same thing – letting go
my son has learning difficulties but he can do some work by himself
Have a great time at the conference. I love the cards…perfect
.
Love the cards! Have a wonderful time. It's so great when homeschool moms can get away.
What a great mother-in-law!! Mine is coming in May so I can attend our Homeschool convention . . . maybe I can talk mine into doing my laundry!! Have a great time at Blissdom!
Have fun! I love your cards!

I love your cards
Have fun at the conference!
It's terrific to hear your good experience using Teaching Textbooks! I've been seriously considering TT for next year.
[...] week you can find us at the homeschool blog link-up called “The Homeschool Mother’s Journal” hosted by The Homeschool [...]
Oh, I had to chuckle at the "helicopter mom"! I hope I am not hovering too much! Your business cards are truly delightful and trendy! I hope you have a great conference. I was just looking at the TT website this week and it looks so intriguing. How has that worked with the Saxon math in Challenge? I am curious because we have always done Math U See and l'm looking ahead at Challenge in a couple of years. I'm just curious!
I am afraid I push my kids to be independent earlier than they can be. I just feel so outnumbered, you know??
I do love the subjects or projects that they can do on their own. Those are wonderful! I have heard the 'hover mom' tag before, it always makes me laugh. That could be because hubby was attached to a helocopter unit in KS…
Your cards are very, um, pink?
Now if they were blue with horses on it… oh way, those would probably be mine
Just kidding. They go great with your blog, so they are perfect. Did you get them all handed out? How did your conference go? I am curious about BlissDom, really.
Love the cards! And yes, you could use them elsewhere; be brave and do it!
Enjoy the conference!
LOVE the cards!
Enjoy Blissdom! One day I will make it there.. (really I will). Love the cards, they are super cute. I have not read that book, but I am a Debbie MaComber fan, and read most of her books. Absolutely, going to have to be checking that one out.
Home School Bloggers meeting. I had no idea. When you get back let us know more.
